Private Houston Graham

Houston Graham was born on 17 March 1875 at Evish, Strabane, County Tyrone, the third or fourth of nine children of farmer William Graham and his wife Sarah (nee Houston).

Between 1903 and 1908 Graham enlisted in the North of Ireland Imperial Yeomanry. In July 1908 during the annual camp at Newbridge the yeomanry regiment was disbanded and re-formed as the North Irish Horse. Graham was one of those who transferred to the new regiment.

He left the North Irish Horse at some point prior to the outbreak of war in August 1914.

On 14 October 1909 he married Sarah Jane Irwin at the First Presbyterian Church in Strabane. The couple had two children. On 23 November 1920, as a widower, he married Harriett Cunningham. At the time he was living at Foyleview, Strabane, and gave his occupation as an auctioneer.

Graham died at Foyleview on 23 November 1949.
